What is Reformer Pilates and how can it benefit me?
Reformer Pilates is a dynamic full-body workout performed on a specialised machine called a Reformer. Using spring-loaded resistance, a moving carriage, and adjustable straps, it builds strength, improves flexibility, enhances posture, and develops core stability — all with low impact on your joints.
At Sano Studio in Morningside, Edinburgh, our reformer pilates classes are designed to challenge and support you regardless of your fitness level. Whether you're recovering from injury, looking to improve athletic performance, or simply want a more mindful approach to movement, reformer pilates is one of the most effective and versatile workouts available.
I'm new to Reformer Pilates. Can I join a class at Sano Studio?
Absolutely — we love welcoming beginners to Sano Studio. We recommend starting with our Sano Start class, a 25-minute introductory session designed to familiarise you with the Reformer machine and its foundational movements in a safe, supportive environment.
If Sano Start doesn't fit your schedule, our Sano Flow Reformer classes are also beginner-friendly and provide a gentle introduction to the equipment and exercises.
Please note: grip socks are required in the studio for all reformer pilates classes — for both safety and hygiene. You can purchase a pair on arrival or via our website.

Do I need to be fit to start Reformer Pilates?
Not at all. Reformer Pilates is suitable for all fitness levels, ages, and body types. The spring resistance on the machine is fully adjustable, meaning sessions can be made easier or more challenging to suit you. Many of our Edinburgh clients come to us following injury, post-surgery, or simply as a first step into regular exercise. Our instructors will always adapt movements to suit your needs.
