Which Massage Should I Book? A Simple Guide to Massage in Morningside, Edinburgh
You know you need a massage. Your shoulders are up by your ears, your legs are heavy after training, or you simply need an hour to switch off. But when you look at the menu, it's hard to know which one to choose.
Here's a plain guide to the massages we offer at Sano Studio in Morningside, and who each one suits.
Quick guide
Unwind and switch off: relaxation massage
Ease tight muscles from training, running or desk work: sports or deep tissue massage
Feel lighter, less puffy or less sluggish: lymphatic drainage massage
Be cared for during pregnancy: pregnancy massage
Melt deep tension with heat: hot stone massage
Release tension in your head, neck and shoulders: Indian head massage

Relaxation massage
A relaxation massage uses flowing, steady strokes to calm the nervous system and ease everyday tension. It's the one to book if you're stressed, sleeping badly or simply need time just for you.
Available as 45 minutes (£65), 60 minutes (£75) or 90 minutes (£100). Book a relaxation massage
Sports or deep tissue massage
Sports and deep tissue massage work more firmly into specific muscles. They suit runners, gym-goers, Pilates regulars, and anyone with stiffness from long hours at a desk.
Deep doesn't have to mean painful. Your therapist will check the pressure with you throughout, and you can ask for it lighter or firmer at any time.
Available as 45 minutes (£65), with 60 and 90-minute options for a fuller session. Book a sports massage
Lymphatic drainage massage
Lymphatic drainage uses very light, rhythmic movements that follow the body's lymphatic pathways. Clients often book it to feel lighter and less puffy, after travel, or as part of a wellness routine.
Available as 60 or 90 minutes; the 90-minute session is £100.
Pregnancy massage
Our pregnancy massage (60 minutes, £75) is adapted for comfort and safety, using a specialist pregnancy pillow so you can relax properly. Let us know how far along you are when you book, and check with your midwife or GP if you have any concerns.
Hot stone and Indian head massage
Hot stone massage (£90) uses warmed stones to soften deep-held tension, and it's especially welcome on a cold Edinburgh day. Indian head massage (£75) focuses on the scalp, neck and shoulders, and is perfect if you carry stress in your upper body.
45, 60 or 90 minutes?
45 minutes: focuses on one or two areas, such as back and shoulders.
60 minutes: our most popular length, with time to treat the whole back of the body.
90 minutes: a full-body treatment with extra time on problem areas, or simply more time to unwind.
Massage memberships
A single massage feels lovely, but regular massage is where the benefits really build: less tension carried from week to week, better recovery, and time set aside just for you. Our memberships make it easy to keep that time booked in, and they cost less than paying per session.
