Myth 1: It’s mind control

No again…..

You’ll be in complete control the whole time.

Hypnosis is actually a very natural state that we all go into every day.  It feels a bit like daydreaming — you’re deeply relaxed, but still totally aware of what’s going on and you could get up and walk away at any time. There’s no swinging pocket watch here!


Myth 3: There’s no talking involved

Again, nope!

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a combination of neuroscience, talking therapy, coaching and hypnosis.

It’s the combination of all these elements which make it so successful and powerful in making lasting positive change.


FAQs

  1. How many sessions will I need?

Everyone’s different, so the number of sessions depends on what you want to change and how committed you are to doing the work.   

On average, most people need around 8-12 sessions to see lasting, positive change but it could be more or less. 

Phobias are often resolved in just 4 sessions, and the stop smoking session is a one-off, two-hour appointment.

We start with weekly sessions and can then space sessions out as you build in confidence, and see change happening.


  1. What actually happens in hypnosis?


A hypnosis trance is really just a relaxed state of focused concentration.  It’s a completely natural state and we all actually go into trance many times a day.  

Have you ever had the experience of driving a familiar route and you realise you can’t remember the last bit of road?  Or you’ve been so absorbed in a book or hobby that you don’t notice someone walking into the room?  Welcome to the natural state of being in trance!


You will remain completely in control, in the same way as you would if someone cut in front of you on the road, or shouted your name as you were reading your book.


When you’re in a trance state, your mind becomes more open to suggestions. Hypnotherapy takes advantage of this state, enabling your mind to concentrate deeply and be more receptive to positive suggestions and change.


There is no swinging watch or stage malarkey here!


  1. Does hypnotherapy always work?


No therapeutic model is guaranteed to work for everyone however the research for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is impressive and growing all the time.

  1. What are Lorna’s qualifications?


Lorna trained at the prestigious Clifton Practice (recognised as being a centre of excellence for hypnotherapy) and she has a Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (DSFH) - considered to be the gold standard in hypnotherapy qualifications.


As a member of the Association For Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH), and the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) and fully insured, she adheres to a strict Code of Conduct, and the highest standards of professional conduct.


She is also an ICF qualified Coach and has an extensive leadership training background including being Dare to Lead (Brene Brown’s work) trained.
