How They Work and Why Your Skin Will Thank You

At Sano Studio, we’re all about science-backed skincare that actually works, is safe and cruelty free with no fluff and no filters. If you’ve been curious about chemical facial peels but put off by horror stories or skincare myths, we’re here to set the record straight.

So, what to know about our AlumierMD Facial Peels? They’re not about burning or peeling your skin off. They’re about deep, intelligent exfoliation using targeted ingredients like lactic acid, salicylic acid, and glycolic acid, all layered strategically to suit your skin type and goals. Let’s break it down.

What to Know About Our AlumierMD Facial Peels: The Science Behind the Glow

Unlike one-size-fits-all treatments, AlumierMD’s chemical peels are fully customisable. Each peel is formulated to work with your skin’s natural renewal process, not against it.

Here’s what happens when you book in for one of our facial treatments

Step One: Consultation & Skin Analysis

We don’t just slap on a peel and hope for the best. Your session starts with a detailed consultation where we assess your skin type, sensitivities, and long-term goals. You can also Take the Skincare Quiz beforehand to help guide your journey.

Step Two: Understanding the Ingredients

Each skin peel uses active acids, but not the scary kind. These are tried-and-tested exfoliants used by dermatologists worldwide:

  • Lactic Acid (AHA) Hydrating, gentle, and ideal for dry or sensitive skin. It helps to remove dead skin cells and brighten the complexion without irritation.

  • Salicylic Acid (BHA) Oil-soluble, meaning it penetrates deep into pores to unclog them, ideal for oily, acne-prone or congested skin.

  • Glycolic Acid (AHA) The smallest molecule of all AHAs, meaning it gets deep fast. It targets fine lines, uneven texture, and pigmentation.

These acids are not used at random. Your Sano skin therapist will layer them based on your specific needs. The combination and concentration will be customised to maximise results and minimise downtime.

Step Three: The Layering Process

This is where the AlumierMD difference really shines. These peels aren’t just a one-layer slap-on treatment. They’re layered strategically, often with nourishing serums or booster complexes between passes.

Think of it like skincare architecture: one foundation layer for exfoliation, another for hydration, and a final for cell turnover. It’s what makes these peels effective but non-aggressive, you’ll feel the tingle, but you won’t be hiding your face for days.

Step Four: Skin Cell Turnover & Recovery

Chemical peels help accelerate skin cell turnover, your body’s natural process of shedding old skin and revealing the fresh layer underneath. As we age, this cycle slows down (hello, dullness and texture). Peels stimulate renewal, encourage collagen production, and leave skin clearer, smoother, and more even.

Expect:

  • A healthy glow within 24–48 hours

  • Flaking or dryness (mild, if any) depending on your skin

  • Real results after a short course of chemical peel treatments (typically 4–6 sessions spaced 2-4 weeks apart)

And yes, you can wear makeup the next day, though we usually recommend letting your skin breathe for 24 hours for best results.

Benefits at a Glance

  • Targets acne, pigmentation, fine lines, and dullness

  • Minimises pores and improves skin texture

  • Restores brightness and balance

  • Safe for sensitive skin when tailored correctly

  • Clinical-grade without harsh downtime

FAQs: What to Know About Our AlumierMD Facial Peels

Q: Will my skin actually peel? Sometimes, but not always. Flaking is mild and usually starts around day 3 post-treatment. Most clients experience a smooth glow, not visible peeling.

Q: Is it painful? No, but you’ll likely feel a tingling or warming sensation as the acids work. This is completely normal and temporary.

Q: Can I go back to work after? Yes! There’s minimal downtime. You may look slightly flushed, like after a workout. Just follow aftercare instructions.

Q: How often should I have a peel? We recommend a course of 4–6 treatments, spaced 2-4 weeks apart. Our 90 day Summer Skin Reset is the perfect place to start . Some clients do maintenance peels with one of our monthly skincare membership plans every month after that.

Q: Can I combine this with other treatments? Yes. We often pair peels with LED therapy or hydration facials, depending on your needs.
